What a beautiful feast day to end our Liturgical year; Christ the King, our King, our Lord, our Savior and Redeemer. Next week we enter into the season of Advent and begin our Liturgical celebration with the new translation of the Roman Missal. As for me I love the familiar responses, words and gestures which I grew up with and which invokes a more focused attitude that we are worshipping the one, true God, Creator of all things visible and invisible.
In our Parish we have been preparing gradually for well over a year for what will be law as of next Sunday. I am confident that once we are all comfortable with the changes a real sense of what actually is taking place on the altar will be more apparent; that this is not for our entertainment but truly our collective, as well as, individual acts of worship. In my heart I believe a return to a more reverent posture will take place within our churches as we witness the "Real Presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Sacrament of the Altar".....Amen

WHEN IN HIS OWN IMAGE
These are the words to an Evening Prayer Hymn I wish to share with all who may read this blog.
When, in his own image, God created man
He included freedom in creation's plan
For he loved us even from before our birth;
By his grace he made us
Freemen of this earth.
God to man entrusted, Life as gift and aim.
Sin became our prison, turning hope to shame.
Man against his brother,Lifted hand and sword
And the Father's pleading went unseen, unheard.
Then in time, our maker chose to intervene,
Set his love in person, in the human scene.
Jesus broke the circle of repeated sin,
So that man's devotion newly might begin.
Choose we now in freedom
Where we should belong,
Let us turn to Jesus,
Let our choice be strong.
May the great obedience
Which in Christ we see
Perfect all our service;
Then we shall be free!
He included freedom in creation's plan
For he loved us even from before our birth;
By his grace he made us
Freemen of this earth.
God to man entrusted, Life as gift and aim.
Sin became our prison, turning hope to shame.
Man against his brother,Lifted hand and sword
And the Father's pleading went unseen, unheard.
Then in time, our maker chose to intervene,
Set his love in person, in the human scene.
Jesus broke the circle of repeated sin,
So that man's devotion newly might begin.
Choose we now in freedom
Where we should belong,
Let us turn to Jesus,
Let our choice be strong.
May the great obedience
Which in Christ we see
Perfect all our service;
Then we shall be free!

MEDITATE
I read the daily meditations from "The Word Among Us". After saying the "Liturgy of the Hours", something that Secular Franciscans do daily, the meditations on the daily readings are so enlightening for me. Today's reading from Genesis 18:23 is explained so beautifully in the daily readings. Abraham spoke out in faith and belief in an all loving God. ".....keep on asking and asking: "Lord, will you....." [from TWAU]
"Father, thank you for calling me your friend.
I want to come boldly into your presence today
and share with you my prayers and dreams."

Not So Easy and Easter Season
It is already the Monday after the 2nd Sunday of Easter. Time is certainly not just going its jetting faster and faster. Our Church was decorated so beautiful for Easter and the Easter Lillie's are still there surrounding the Tabernacle.
The preceding days to the Triduum were not so easy.
My hubby awoke one morning with a swollen knee [about 2x's normal size] and to make a very long story short finally had it drained last Friday. It wasn't water or lymph fluid; it was full of blood. The doctor had to catch it with paper cups it was draining so quickly. This was another cumidin side effect episode of this most dangerous drug. Last November he was bleeding into his intestines and received four transfusions.
Now in a weeks time he will be having surgery to remove a tumor like growth from the corner of his eye.
Everything is in your hands "My Lord and My God", Sweet Jesus, I love you and place all my trust in you.

Holy Saturday April 23rd, 2011
We have just revisited Good Friday; listened to the Passion of Christ and Venerated the Cross. Let us meditate on these words:
"I am making everything new" Revelation 21:5
"He will wipe away all tears from their eyes;
there will be no more death, and no more mourning
there will be no more death, and no more mourning
or sadness or pain." Revelation 21:4
This night is the most Solemn Vigil of the Lord's Resurrection. May all who visit this blog experience the amazing and glorious Light of the Word of God, the Risen Lord, Our Lord Jesus Christ....Amen

This Sunday is Passion Sunday
The following are the words to a beautiful Hymn
I have been softly singing it to myself before saying the Liturgy of the Hours:O SACRED HEAD, SURROUNDED
O Sacred Head, Surrounded
By crown of piercing thorn.
O Bleeding Head, so wounded,
Reviled and put to scorn.
Our sins have marred the glory
of thy most holy Face,
Yet angel hosts adore thee,
And tremble as they gaze.
The Lord of every nation
Was hung upon a tree;
His death was our Salvation,
Our sins, His agony.
O Jesus, by thy Passion,
Thy Life in us increase;
Thy death for us did fashion
Our pardon and our peace.
By crown of piercing thorn.
O Bleeding Head, so wounded,
Reviled and put to scorn.
Our sins have marred the glory
of thy most holy Face,
Yet angel hosts adore thee,
And tremble as they gaze.
The Lord of every nation
Was hung upon a tree;
His death was our Salvation,
Our sins, His agony.
O Jesus, by thy Passion,
Thy Life in us increase;
Thy death for us did fashion
Our pardon and our peace.

Dedicated to my Son named after his Grandfather
Psalm 119:105-112
Your word is a lamp for my steps
and a light for my path
I have sworn and have made up my mind
to obey your decrees
Lord, I am deeply afflicted:
by your word give me life.
Accept, Lord, the homage of my lips
and teach me your decrees.
Though, I carry my life in my hands,
I remember your law
Though the wicked try to ensnare me
I do not stray from your precepts.
Your will is my heritage for ever,
the joy of my heart.
I set myself to carry out your will
in fullness, for ever.

Accept, Lord, the homage of my lips

Still Decluttering
Two more items found that I want to share:
Sometime ago, more than ten years, I received in the mail a card with the title "Hail Mary Miracle"from the "One Hail Mary A Day Club"...it was started by someone in Norwich, Vermont [no name] who thought it would be a good idea to start a club. Members would say one Hail Mary a day for their club members. If you wish to join, just tell the Blessed Mother you wish to belong to her Club. That's all. No obligation under pain of sin is involved. Mary, is the President. It is hoped that all members will get to know one another in heaven.
PLEDGE: I promise, as a member of the HAIL MARY FAMILY to say a HAIL MARY each day for the mental, physical and spiritual welfare of its members.
PRAYER FOR A LOVED ONE'S RETURN TO THE FAITH
Dear Lord, You became man, suffered and died to win salvation for all souls.
Look graciously on the soul of my loved one who has drifted away from you and the faith.
Grant [name] your grace to see the error of his/her ways and return to the fold in your care.
Teach me to stay close to [name] during this trying time and strive to convert him/her by
action and prayers more than by words that may antagonize.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust you to do everything to bring my loved one back to you..
Amen

AN INDIAN PRAYER
While cleaning out and around my desk, I came across this Prayer.
When I was still working in the city this was pinned to my cubicle wall right by my computer. I thought it is more than worth sharing with anyone who may read my blog. This is dedicated to my Mother's family who were part American Indian from the Mohawk Tribe who lived mostly in northern New York State and Canada.

O'Great Spirit,
Whose voice I hear in the winds
And whose breath gives life to all the world
hear me! I am small and weak, I need your
strength and wisdom
Let Me Walk in Beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset
Make my Hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Make Me Wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people
Let Me Learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
I Seek Strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy-myself
Make Me Always Ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.
So When Life Fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame.
